The Place I called Home is a short story designed for single-player play-through in 45-60 minutes, allowing you to complete all of the suggested activities in one sitting for a personal computer. The gamer will see the world around them with a first-person camera and travel through the open territories at a low pace, unhurriedly absorbing the story, carefully and accurately laid out so that it would be understandable to anyone who wants to play "A place I call home". This casual control project is invented and developed by two programmers, Michael Schade and Sarah Ward.

The user is offered a meditative gameplay during which to admire the elaborate and detailed environment, realized through the use of the power of the modern engine. The game lacks action scenes and gunfights, instead asking you to search for food for a protagonist named Sophia carter, interact with animals in the woods near the protagonist's plot, and pick up items and notes to further explore. The story revolves around a girl's attempts to escape from her past, marred by terrible events that happened to her. Which ones - this is what the gamer will have to find out during the game.
