Home is Where One Starts... - an atmospheric first-person adventure where you have to explore a country house and its surroundings. The main message of the game is the fragility of human memory. You play as a girl who grew up in a dysfunctional family. The action takes place in a southern U.S. state.

In the game you can hear the heroine's thoughts that she remembers well the time when she stood by the road and waited for the school bus. She was late, but for some reason she kept standing still. The gameplay is inspired by such projects as Dear Esther and Gone Home. Every object or detail in the environment of Home is Where One Starts... is hand-drawn by the creators and carries a deep meaning and message. This interactive adventure tells a deep story and you will need to be really attentive to get the true meaning of the game.

You have access to a huge house and a large area around. As an adult, the girl returns to the house she once grew up in. Memories roll in through exploring vignettes and various clues scattered throughout the house. As you explore the interior details, find clues that will help you move forward in the story.

Developers took inspiration from such stories as John Steinbeck's East of Eden and Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life. It was these novels that served as the basis for the story. The story has a non-linear structure. The total time of passing the story campaign takes from 30 to 60 minutes of real time.
