Download 198X

198X is a pixel action adventure that combines many arcade genres typical of the 1980s.

The protagonist is a lonely, nameless teenager who is fanatical about arcade games. The gameplay mechanics are simple - the user must go through several colorful arcades:

  • "Beating Heart" - a street-fighting game of the iconic beat 'em up genre, filled with battles with bandits and dangerous criminals.
  • "Out of the Void" - a space side-scroller with shoot 'em up mechanics, where you have to shoot enemy spaceships and giant robots.
  • "The Runaway" - a racing driver simulator, its goal is to deliver a pretty girl to her destination in a certain amount of time.
  • "Shadowplay" - action platformer, in which the gamer must control a valiant ninja, collecting modifiers and killing a variety of monsters.
  • "Kill Screen" is a first-person RPG where the protagonist explores a branching maze filled with creepy monsters and challenging bosses.
In between arcades, you can learn about the hero's real-life problems, which he hides from in bright and juicy 8-bit pictures. His story is narrated by a pleasant female voice, enhancing the immersion in the atmosphere of a melancholic town.

The work perfectly combines modern graphics with iconic style, spicing it up with neon surroundings and colorful characters. 198X is good for a measured acquaintance with the classics, devoid of bugs and impassable levels.
